Tolkien's novels left a mark on my readers soul and when I began to write this literacy narrative his words reverberated in my mind. I first read Tolkien when I was pretty young. I found the Hobbit in my library and I loved it. It wasn't until years later when I was in High School that I discovered the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The entire Tolkien world blew my mind and they remain to this day some of my favorite books that I read time and time again. I could talk for days about the books I've read in a 'can't eat can't sleep' kind of way, but I won't (yet).
The point of this site is to explore my literary past. The pages of this Weebly contain moments from my past that have affected the way I view reading and writing and they are moments that will affect the way I approach teaching. My hope is that every student will find a 'Tolkien', will find something in a piece of literature that affects them, and changes the way they view the world.
Please browse the tabs above. This project was much more personal than I realized it would be when I began. I knew I would be writing about myself but I did not realize the flood of emotion that would go along with it. This project contains the most writing I have done since I was in college and I had forgotten how it felt: therapeutic, fun, proud, exciting. I hope you enjoy viewing the site and I hope I have succeeded in presenting the events that have really shaped who I am today.
